Andermatt launches the 60th anniversary of the Goldfinger film with lighting artist Gerry Hofstetter
With "Goldfinger Revival", Swiss light artist Gerry Hofstetter recreated the legendary film sequences on the Furka Pass with a large-scale projection onto the snow walls and snow slopes where the original was filmed 60 years ago to mark the 60th anniversary of the James Bond film Goldfinger. The film was premiered together with the making of on Saturday at the first Genuss Film Alpen in Andermatt and is also the prelude to various activities in the coming summer.
The "60 Years of Goldfinger" soirée gala on Saturday evening was an evening of superlatives: it began with the anniversary film of the same name, "Goldfinger" by author Ian Fleming, the third and probably best-known instalment in the James Bond film series, which was shot in 1964 in the Ursern Valley and elsewhere. Afterwards, the guests in the sold-out Andermatt Concert Hall were treated to a delicious meal by the two top chefs Anton Mosimann and Armin Amrein.
With the presentation of the film and making-of of the light art stunt "Goldfinger Revival", the internationally renowned Swiss light artist Gerry Hofstetter created a tribute to the chase scene that was realised at the time. Swiss singer Nubya accompanied the evening acoustically with her live act. At the same time, guests were able to marvel at the original Aston Martin DB5 that was driven in the film. Finally, the after-party took place at The Chedi Andermatt until the early hours of the morning.
Gerry Hofstetter
The Swiss lighting artist Gerry Hofstetter is a close friend of the United Kingdom, and this affinity was already evident in other projects that he was able to realise for the Empire. Hofstetter reinterprets Goldfinger in 2024: the 5 minutes and 46 seconds of the most popular Bond film of all time, filmed in 1964 on the Furka Pass and in the Andermatt region, were also reshot in 2024 over 5 minutes and 46 seconds. The production of these legendary scenes originally took place in July 1964 and lasted 8 days. The film team was supported at the time by people from the region, tourists, the canton of Uri, the Swiss army and the Swiss press, who were invited to the shoot. In April 2024, these same scenes were filmed again over 8 days in the same setting and with the same supporting institutions.
Hofstetter has integrated images of the original Aston Martin DB5, which was already used in the film, into his projections. The owner of this exclusive car is Swiss and has generously made it available for this art project. The illuminations include photos from the book "The Goldfinger Files", which shows the making of the film on the Furka Pass and Andermatt in 1964. Many of the pictures were taken during the filming by journalists from the Swiss press. The producers of the book are the two Bond experts Steffen Appel and Peter Wälty (Steidl Verlag).

Andermatt has long ceased to be an insider's tip and also offers a huge range of attractions away from the pistes and meadows.
