The last weekend of July was full of highlights for young and old
It was an eventful weekend in Andermatt, involving three different events in total: Piazza Saturday meets AndermattLive!, the Andermatt Swiss Alps Kinderfest and the Swiss National Day celebrations in the village of Andermatt.
Piazza Saturday meets AndermattLive!
Another Piazza Saturday meets AndermattLive! event took place on Saturday, 30 July. The cosy evening get-together attracted many visitors to Piazza Gottardo. Highlights of the evening included culinary delicacies from the smoker and a free concert by the Swiss band Dabu Fantastic. Even at the very first AndermattLive Festival in 2015, Dabu Fantastic knew how to get the Andermatt crowd on its feet. Dabu Bucher and DJ Arts created a lively atmosphere with their latest successful album, So Easy.
Delighted children at the Andermatt Swiss Alps Kinderfest
Sunday was all about the children: arts and crafts, magic workshops, slackline, a bouncy castle and face painting provided a varied range of activities at this year's Andermatt Swiss Alps Kinderfest in Piazza Gottardo. The highlight of the Kinderfest was the children's concert put on by "Grüüveli Tüüfeli" and the interactive magic show by the Zaubersocken group of magicians.
Convivial Swiss National Day celebration in the village of Andermatt
This year’s traditional Swiss National Day celebration once again took place in the Andermatt village centre. Visitors were able to enjoy the summer weather, while strolling in the car-free zone. The local restaurants along Gotthardstrasse provided food for the guests. The brass band PM 2020 and various Ländler groups made sure there was lots of lively music. The bouncy castle at Meyer’s Sporthaus gave the youngsters something to enjoy too. A Swiss National Day speech was also given by the President of the Cantonal Parliament, Cornelia Gamma. The Swiss National Day celebration was rounded off with flag-waving and alphorn blowing.
